Yep, the solution to this issue is in my article:

NOTE: If the kext doesn't load after waking from sleep, just try to add VoodooHDA_sleep.txt before the VoodooHDA_wakeup.txt lines of your rc.wakeup file. So it will try to unload your kext after wakeup too! Hope this help ;)

;)

Hey Thireus,

I try your solution, but it doesn't completly work for me, it unloads kext, reload it, but I don't have sound anymore, I have to reboot.

So I remove the unload/load of sleepwatcher scripts and add 2 lines in rc.wakeup which call 2 times the Extended hotkey mute script of ElParkeur. It work really well.

Thanks again for the idea of sleepwatcher.

Your patched version is a great improvement over the original voodoo kext, and certaily the issue is not due to your modifications. I wish it were easier to figure, though, and easily achived by active users like yourself.

For the moment the only workaround I have is to record with audacity, spilt the stereo file in seperate tracks, discard the left track and label the right track mono, all of which only takes three clicks in audacity. As for skype or ichat, quality is sufficent to be audible and understood.

OK ALL kexts on my machine are now folders! Its as if "view package contents" is permanently switched on! I guess I was right about having flipped a switch somewhere, the question now is how do I fix this?

As far as installing I guess I can copy the folder kext into the system library and use OSX86 tools to fix the permissions etc. I really don't want to break this install as it has been pretty good and I don't have time to start from scratch:(

Caber:(

Very very strange…

Are you sure you are running OSX? LOL

No seriously, the only way to have a .kext working as a folder is to have it named without the .kext extension, or to right click on it and to see its content.

Do you have the same problem with other kext, for example those that are into this archive: http://www.enik.ch/PublicFiles/File/downloads/MY_BUNDLE_V0.9.4.1.zip

Or only with my kext?

And if you drag VoodooHDA.kext directly into the Kext Helper application… is it not working?

I can't do anything for that right now, I'm not a voodoo developer.

This issue has already been reported here: http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/issues/detail?can=2&q=&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summary&sort=&id=20

And this is not due to my modified version but due to the orignal kext.

Maybe if someone find where both channel signals are located into the source the team provide on its site we could eventualy try to discuss on that point and try to patch it. It could be a nice work for you robbe23 :D what do you think about that?

i checked the issue, using other software, and even running windows for comparison.

soundquality of the internal mic is generally disastrous, regardless of os. actually, running standart prefs, your patched driver gives far better results than the original driver under windows. however, noise is still plentifull.

there is one problem, though, which I have reported earlier: internal mic don't produce proper stereo. We'd be far better off if we only had one channel instead of two, and only used the right channel, not a mix of both to generate the mono signal.

Alright :)

So as you can see into the changelog I said:

Stereo with input mic works.
Stereo with internal mic works too, but the left side volume is low and seems to catch only ambient noise when I don't scream…

So it is working, but the volume is low! Don't forget to go into audacity pref and set stereo recording!!! Because by default it doesn't record stereo but mono (right channel)!

it looks exactly like your audacity-screenshot on your website. I'll check with other recording sw later tonight. I'll also try to find if maybe an old pref-file from an other version of the same kext has anything to do with it.
Anyhow, how do you achieve your best results when recording from the internal mic?
