Also I would appreciate if you could share what is best to use with our EeeMacs: VoodooPower.kext or VoodooPowerMini.kext based on the experience you have already. I am searching to reduce the overheat I get using VoodooPower.kext 1.2.3 + GenericCPUPMControl.app 1.1… // Regards, NF

Hi there
I start this new thread as I got troubles with booting… Few days ago I've connected my EeeMac to a brand new MacBook Pro (13,3-inch, 2010, running Snow Leopard 10.6.3). My idea was to migrate my profile and data to the new machine. It seems I've left the Migration Assistant with Applications sync checked and that created the problem I run into. … On the next morning my EeeMac was not able to boot OSX (10.5.8), neither Windows XP. Bootloader was destroyed (Chameleon 2.0 R431).
…
At the moment I got the Windows partition bootable (I had to use the Recovery Console and type "fixmbr", than using my Mac OS X 10.5.5 Install DVD I've managed to copy the bootloader's components in the correct paths; I got boot.ini intact; chain0 in C:\ (but I did not tried to refresh it)…), MY PROBLEM is when I set the HFS+ partition to be active (it is the second one, rdisk0s2; Win is installed in rdisk0s1, both partitions have correct "setpid"S, the rdisk0s1 STOPS booting). :-(
My second ISSUE is that boot.ini shows the C:\chain0 "text", but the OSX partition (rdisk0s2) is not bootable. It doesn't show up when I insert the Install DVD. What can be done to make it bootable again?
…
Any help/suggestion is much, much appreciated.
…
Is there a way to boot from the install DVD and install Chameleon 2.0 R431 from a USB stick?
…
My intention is to keep my EeeMac (this dual-boot machine Windows XP SP3/Leopard 10.5.8) when I travel, and use the 13-inch MBP for tasks at home. Do you think it is possible to do this with no wipe or re-install? My signature reflects the actual details, except for the bootloader (I got a purchased Mac OS X Install DVD and the iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 distro, but I've used the latter because of Darvin bootloader)
This time I run into real trouble and will wait your replies… Thanks in advance! //Regards

Hey

I have a question regarding iDeneb ISO image. Does anybody have an image that is up to 4GB in size. I need it to be able to copy in onto my FAT32 USB drive to boot the installation. Alternatively, maybe someone would advise me what folders I can delete from ISO without worrying?

I've tried the iDeneb 1.6 lite edition, but it doesn't seem to work.

Any help appreciated!

PS. My HW is Asus EEE PC 1000H

What about this Security Update: Mac OS X v10.6.2 / Security Update 2009-006
Please, read more on the official page of this update.
What do you think about? Please, give your feedback here.
PS1 I am interested iof anyone has applied it to a 10.5.8…
PS2 …Leopard and Snow Leopard are 2 different species, even in heraldy. The Snow Leopard, known also as Bars is a sacred totem of the Bulgarian Royal domain of Duloh (royal family of the most prominent Bulgarian Khans). The Bars is related to the male name of Bars, Baris, Boris, that exists today. The Bars's skin was only allowed to be vested by the Khan himself. And it's skin is a protype of the hermeline skin used centuries after the Bars has been a sacred family animal of the Bulgarian Khans… Long Live Their Glory! // Regards, NF

I recently just had my 16GB SDHC card replaced. The pervious one cannot be write or read after some time of used (about 4 months). I guess one of the problem is that when my eeepc goes to sleep mode and turn back on the machine, the SDHC card is consider removed "unsafely" as I have not eject the SD card from finder.

I am wondering how can I avoid this problem?

I have tested running the SD card from a external card reader, no error message after the machine wake up from sleep mode. Other usb devices like usb flash drive or external HDD also work totally fine.

Many Thanks

Get more of these tips at: http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/

Link to the article: http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/index.php/notebook-macos-tips/4-so-you-want-to-make-a-fresh-install-without-loosing-your-data

So, if you want to make a fresh install of your system without loosing all your data and pref, the best way is to backup the entire partition where you actual mac install is located to another partition.

I used this free tool to clone mine: Clone X 3

I bought a 110€ hard drive of 1TB (yep 1TB :D and it's a 7200rt/min ^^). I have created some partitions and cloned my Mac on one of them :)

Note that you can also use Time Machine to backup your entire data!!!!! But I think this is safer to clone your entire partition :D

Ok then, when you did it, you can format and make a fresh install :)

Directly after the install (after the first boot and after some basic steps), you Mac will ask you if you want to restore your data from another Mac:

So select that you have the data From another volume on this Mac

And then it will start searching your data, when it's done you can ask to restore everything :)

So don't forget to backup your files!
