I just noticed they have a 904HA model which looks identical to the 1000HA, except for the slightly smaller screen (and cheaper price). Anyone have any experience or problems with OS X on a 904HA ?
thx

It seems you have no tags attached to pages. To attach a tag simply click on the tags button at the bottom of any page.

The 904HA has a celeron processor. You most likely want too steer clear of that one.
ah no, you're thinking of the 904HD, see: http://event.asus.com/eeepc/comparison/eeepc_comparison.htm
In any case, I just ordered the 900HA. It has a smaller footprint, weight, and screen compared to the 1000HA, but similar specs otherwise. Just gotta hope someone mods the bios for os x installation.
900HA vs. 1000HA
0.3 m webcam vs. 1.3 m
4 cell battery vs 6 cell
8.9 inch vs 10 inch
2.5 lbs vs 3.2 lbs
8.84x6.69x1.34 vs. 10.5 x 7.5 x 1.5
$324 vs $424
I bought a 904HA yesterday($325) and tried to install but it just hangs (spinning cursor). I think I need a modded BIOS but there isn't one for
a 904HA on the mod bios websites (http://www.osxcores.site50.net/page2/page2.html and http://osrom.net/biosmod/) yet.
I wonder if one of the 900A or 1000H modded bios would work on my 904HA and help me get through to the installation.
Thanks for the advice. The DSDT override requires a "A successfully booting OS X86 install disc" but I can't get that far, I just get a spinning wheel
thingy. I have tried iDenebi 1.3 (10.5.5) and an iAtkos v4i (10.5.4) disk. I see there is a iAktos v5i DVD out there now, I will give that a go. In fact
iAtkos v5i seems to have all this DSDT override and Chameleon stuff included with it, so I might need to do less patching and fiddling.
The DSDT patching thingy did the trick for my 904HA. Once I get audio, wireless, and
the right resolution (instead of 800x600) with QE/CI working I'll try to compose
a quick and dirty howto. I guess the audio and resolution hacks should be easy
with the help of this
website. Someone has found a way to get the Atheros 5007EG mini e-pci working,
here's the link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=138351
I'll have to try the touchscreen (ebay) mod after all this stuff. Thanks to mcsenerd for
the advice and all the fine eee pc hackintosher's contributing to this site!
Yes, 904HA is hackintosh-able. Found this 1000HA YouTube Video
which inspired me to do it on my 904HA, since they are the same except for the screensize.
With the advice of mcsenerd who pointed me in the direction
of his " Getting Mac OS X to Boot on the 900HA w/Chameleon DSDT Override" Guide posted on this forum I was
finally able to boot MacOS X. I then got wireless, audio, video (QE/CI), powermanagement, webcam working,
with wireless being the toughest chore. The wireless howto was found on insanelymac forum here. I have a triple booting 904HA with EEEbuntu 2.0 as the 3rd
OS. Adding EEEbuntu broke my wireless and set me back several days, I think you need to avoid putting
grub on the main boot partition and just install grub on the partition you have your eeebuntu on..
I hope to post a youtube video to show it off first then maybe a detailed guide. I don't have ethernet working
like everyone else.
Finally got a video up on YouTube showing it off - Asus EEE PC 904HA netbook hackintosh . Used a 2G jailbroken iphone to film it!
I find 904HA's BIOS same as 1000H's and upgrade my 904HA's BIOS with alex_l's1000H 2102 BIOS.
Then I install ideneb 1.6 almost successfully, but lack of ethernet (atheros) , wifi (atheros) , and touchpad's drivers.
Wish I can find how to make these doing well at my 904HA quickly.
I have a 904HA and just used a vanilla install from USB…I have ethernet & touchpad working out of the box. As far as wifi….I could never get any of the atheros drivers to work so I bought a mac compatable wifi card on ebay and it works PERFECT! Currently running snow leopard without any problems and it works wonderfully. I've always felt vanilla installs worked smoother than iDeneb ones anyway. I have a modded 1903 BIOS FYI….I don't see any reason to update the BIOS.
I'd checkout this site for those drivers…..It works for the ethernet anyway….again i didn't need a driver for trackpad.
