Here is the rundown. There is a new SSD company called RunCore.
It has a new line of SSD's for the Dell Inspiron 9 and the eee pc line.
They are not currently linked to the correct catagory on www.mydigitaldiscount.com but they are in the search engine. Just search for RunCore.
They are very very fast (75/55). This blows my expensive 16gb 45/43 out of the water.
They are also cheap:32Gb 75/55 SSD : $119.00

But here is the interesting thing. The cards for the Dell's are the same size as the 4gb SSD's for the eee pc 901's. They screw holes are not in the correct place, but the SSD is the same size.
check out this one (70/40).http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=800008DD-1224564080
See the silver box on the screw in end of the card … that's a little USB port. You can mount this drive externally by USB and clone an existing drive to it.
Better yet, look at the location of where that card would go in an eee pc. There should be clearance to leave this port open and cut a hole in the side of your case, thus allowing a powered down eee pc (901 at least) to have it's drive remotely mounted to another computer.
Cool huh?
I'm not sure the clearances on this, but it might be worth a slight speed hit just to try.
Also if I upgrade to a 32gb SSD in the small slot, I can loose my big 16gb card and have more internal space to mount more toys.
They have versions of this card up to 128gb available. The Bigger card is faster, and these are much much faster than hard drive speeds. I wonder what their power consumption is like.
