901 with Leopard -- SLOWER with 2GB of RAM?

Hey there, folks.

With help from many of the excellent guides on this site, I recently installed Leopard (iDeneb 1.3) on my Linux 901's 16GB slow SSD, as it won't fit on the fast one. All in all, it ran pretty great, though not perfect.

To speed things up a bit, I installed 2GB of RAM, but here's the thing — I could swear it's running slower now. Any idea what's causing this? Is there anything I can do about it? Is it because of the swapfile or some such thing? If so, can I move that to the fast SSD?

I'm stumped by this, and I'd appreciate any help you guys could offer.

Oh, one more thing: right around when I added the RAM, I also switched out the RaLink card and replaced it with an Apple Airport Extreme card that works perfectly. It couldn't be doing this somehow, could it?

The place where the slowness is most evident is Safari — whenever I load a page of moderate complexity (cnn.com, for example), most of the site loads, and then the app just hangs for a few seconds while the disk activity light on the Eee turns bright, constant green.

I could have sworn it wasn't this slow before I made the modifications described above.

I'm in the same boat.

I have MenuMeters running and it seems like every time I stall it's reading/writing to the SSD.

I ordered a faster SSD to help alleviate the problem.

I get it tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes.

It makes a very big difference.

You will love your new ssd.

I spent about $200 on a fast 16gb a few months ago. at $69 where they are now, there is no reason not to upgrade.

All of my spinning beach balls of death have disappeared since I installed the new SSD.

It's amazing how fast this little guy is now.

I got the 64GB RunCore.

Installed it last night and frankly I'm shocked with how fast the computer is.

It feels as fast as my first gen MacBook on everything except flash.

:) I felt that way when I got the 47/43 one I have. I think I'm going to get that same ssd shortly.

I just got word that they will have a new version around the 7th of next month that has that usb on the back so it can be remotely mounted so you can clone your existing drive.
