Sticky Keys on the 901

When I close the lid on my 901, when i wake it up, often the '0' key is stuck and is repeating away.

A light touch on the key solves the issue.

My eee is still under warranty, so I thought of sending it back. Then I realized that a new one only cost $9.99 on e-bay (including shipping). This was less than the cost of shipping to asus. New keyboard does exactly the same thing.

This leads me to think it might be an issue with my bezel. I have opened it to change the camera and things like that.

Any suggestions of the source or a fix?

My old 901 never did this.

Hi Greg,

A few things :

1. I have exactly the same issue with my Toshiba A100-PSAARA laptop except it's always the '7' key. I've searched for others with this issue and unfortunately couldn't find a definitive answer to the cause of it although a fair few people reported it on a compaq model too. Some tried replacing the PS2 kext plus a few others I can't remember….but after trying it I still had no success. My issue is in no way a hardware related issue where the key is physically being pushed down.

2. If you're unsure whether it is a kext/physical issue could use your clamshelldisplay.kext to put your laptop to sleep and not close the lid all the way…i believe there's a trigger point with most laptop displays that should go off before the screen is closed.

3. If you find it's a kext issue and can't find a solution then just turn your repeat delay off in System->Preferences….yes it is a dodgey fix but would only effect you when using arrow keys to scroll.

Good call. It does look like a software issue, as any key will stop it from repeating.

Now to trace it further.
