I've eeectl installed under Windows and running at 1.89Ghz… But when I rebooted my eeepc 1000h, the frequency was 1.89Ghz too…

I'm using voodoo.kext and the throttle works great oO

Ps: Sorry the title is wrong, this is Ghz and not Mhz :D

I believe it is maybe because you are using the most recent VoodooPower.kext… Do you changed something in its Info.plist? Also I am wondering why is you System profiler reporting 256 KB of L2 cache… and you are using different BIOS; mine says: MBA11.88Z.00BB.B03.0803171226 (Apple Inc.) Please give us some more details: bios, kexts, etc.

Well in fact this happens only when I reboot on OSX when I was on XP with eeectl running at 1.89Ghz.

So… it seems the bios is keeping this frequency… I didn't changed anything on the bios, I only did the bios update recommended by eNik in his tutorial.

256 KB of L2 cache —> Is it good or bad? What should it be?

About the kext, wow I did a lot of changes there, using different kext from different sites. I can upload some if you want. Just tell me those you want.

I only edited the VoodooPower.kext —> http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-131178/voodoo-kext-can-be-optimised#post-387732

This is so reasonable! But I still want to know what BIOS version/buid you are using. I am still using Kabyl's moded 1003H version. I remember I did some hacks before to fix the memory type, the serial number and the other stuffs. I have not yet modified the VoodooPower.kext because I am not sure how to do this in the right way. My System Profiler reports of 512 KB of L2 cache. I would be glad if we could exchange some ideas, or if you could describe the eeectrl, the BIOS, and other mods you have applied. I don't think that few more degrees would damage my EeeMac Pro 1000H :-) Please, ping me via Skype (search for my name there). And what happen when you restart OSX? You loose the over-clocking, right?
Very nice job, Thireus!

P.S. I did followed nhirt's (eNick's) guide too. EEE has such potential (how did you get this American Megatrends Inc. to be displayed correctly), and if you notice the trade mark on our lid do not include "PC", just "EEE", so it could be made "Mac", "Android", and so on…

I'm using the Kabyl's moded 1103H version
http://osrom.net/files/BIOS.mod/NB/ASUS/EeePC/EeePC1000H1103_mod.by.Kabyl.zip (EeePC 1000H EeePC1000H1103)
From the list: http://osrom.net/biosmod/

My System Profiler reports of 512 KB of L2 cache —> Can you explain how to fix this please?

So now about the modifications:

eeectl (windows xp only):

1) Uninstall "Asus Super Hybrid Engine"
2) Get the latest version: http://cpp.in/dev/eeectl/
3) Extract it into C:\Program Files\eeectl4) Remplace eeectl.ini by mine: http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/eeectl.ini
5) Launch the program
6) Make sure it works great
7) Add it to the startup list

MacOS hacks:

I have followed the enik tutorial: http://www.enik.ch/2008/10/osx-leopard-1055-on-the-eee-1000h/
But some parts were not working well, so I decided to find better on the Internet.

I've installed the 10.5.6 OSX version using this tutorial:

download DSDT Patcher(http://pcwizcomputer.com/downloads/DSDTPatcherGUI_1.0.zip) and Universal OSx86 Installer
(http://pcwizcomputer.com/downloads/UInstaller_1.0.zip)
run DSDT Patcher first and then tick all thing on right hand side, next click “run DSDT Patcher”
second,Run Universal OSx86 Installer,tick “install PC_EFI v9………
then,reboot with -f -v
after that you can do software update or download the package to update
the touchpad and keyboard may be not worked after update
pls install PS2FixMouse.zip
(http://pcwizcomputer.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&gid=85&Itemid=74)

A lot of problem occurred next, and I had to install again some kext.

I Did the DSDT hack here: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-121404/various-dsdt-fix-for-1000h

I have installed a lot of kext files and hacks on MacOS you can find here: http://xsolutions.free.fr/home/ftp.html (sorry it's French)
Every modifications I did are working great using these website' archives.

I also modified the last Voodoo, but that was only because of the problem I have detailed into the thread.

THAT'S ALL :D

Yep I lost the overclocking when I boot my computer. The only way to get an overclocked mac is to reboot it from XP with eeectl running at the desired frequency.

But the main problem when I reboot from XP is that the trackpad is not working, and cause a lot of trouble if you touch it :(

Yep! Thireus, you are the honorable pioneer of the Eee over-clocking under OSX! :D Thank you for your great posts and shared knowledge!
I run exactly the same BIOS. I don't know how you may fix the L2 cache level. For me it has been 512 KB all the time (CPU-Z in Win shows it is like that). I only guess this may be because eeectl or I am not sure what to think.
Thank you so much for the detailed info. I was waiting to DSDT mods to evolve: I will check all the links you have provided and will read slither2007's suggestions in the tread he has provided. Anyway I am fluent in French and few more languages, so it is not a problem.
I do use my current OSX install for important work, so I can't just wipe it. I am looking forward to ways of improving it without having to destroy it. I know it is strange, but I do work mainly in OSX.
The fact you got effective over-clocking under OSX seems we need some more BIOS moding work. The BIOS gurus may hack more there and unlock more features for OSX. And who knows but together with the DSDT achievements our Eee will behave even more OSX-like?

Amicalement et mes sentiments les meilleurs,

Is there any possibility to overclock the 1000H CPU without having Windows installed?

Would also a KNoppix Live CD in combination with eeecontrol work?

Maybe. But think that it's just temporary, once your computer totaly shut-downs you loose this overclock, but you can even restart your computer to keep it ;)

I don't have Windows installed.

Maybe wait for someone to release an utility that can do this under MacOS. :(

All right, I will try eeecontrol with XP when I will have installed Windows again.
