OK,
Is it just me or has everyone forgotten about the Eee PC's and Mac OS X?
It seems like you all have.
There hasn't been updates on the Audio situation in ages.
Just checking that you're all still alive =/

mic is working finaly on my 1000h ;)
automatically switches between phones and biult in speakers
Are you sure? Tried this kext on my 901 and guess what? ;)
Neither internal microphone nor automatic phones / speaker switching is working…
sure

dzsim, I would appreciate some instructions how you did this. Do we have to remove AppleAzaliaAudio.kext, etc.
I have downloaded the source, compiled it, but VoodooHDA.kext is not loaded. Probably because of the azalia kext already loaded. 1000H and 10.5.6 here using pentiumpc's dsdt and Chameleon 2.

in my case,
I removed AppleAzaliaAudio.kext and audioeee utility both
it works well…. but I didn't test audio-in yet
If I got you correctly, corok: 1) I have to remove AppleAzaliaAudio.kext and 2) Prevent Audioeee from login items. is that what you did?
…
EDIT:
Worked! I just removed the kext (1); Note that you have to set the out/in devices from Sound Preferences. What can I say? I still can't believe I got a completely perfect EeeMac Pro 1000H with every hardware working!!! I mean ethernet, sound (in/out), camera, bluetooth, original Ralink wi-fi recognised as another eth though, but this is not a big problem… So far I have tested sound is working great in Skype and iChat.
Cheers!

Confirmed working on the 1002ha by installing the kext, and removing appleazailaaudio. Autoswitching works, no more audiee. Note that it is mic in that is now working, not the onboard mic. If anybody has that working, please share how.
I have only the onboard mic (built-in), no external mic, neither handset.

This is excellent news.
I got mine working - mono onboard microphone, and something odd happens with the external mic settings.
I plug in my electric guitar, and if I choose the right setting, it'll play it back over the speakers, but it won't detect any sound coming through any of the microphones.
So I guess I'm in the "No External Mic's" boat. Anyone know of a fix :P
Rhys
Awesome, both internal and external mic and speakers working 100%. It took some playing around with each of the output controls (thanks cororok) but now it all works great. Calling skype test call, i can finally hear myself and now make video chats without rebooting over to XP. Awesome
Huh? On my 900A internal(!) mic seems to be working: When I'm blowing into the internal microphone or holding an MP3 player or something similar to the mic then I can hear that sound coming from the internal speakers. But oddly there's absolutely no data than could be recorded (hence iChat et al. don't work here).
On the other hand neither external mic in nor sound out seem to be working (plus automatic switching between internal speakers and sound out doesn't work - not surprisingly when sound out is not working).
Anyone with an 900A that can reproduce this strange behaviour?
New 0.2.2 was released
http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,139.msg421.html#msg421
Updated the kext and sounds still works as it should. It cleaned up the outputs and inputs so there is now only 1 output and 2 mic inputs, but my mic is no longer working (neither onboard or mic-in).
Same. I was about to say that. We should skip this build. Mic (built-in) does not work. I have tried both ways: 1) building my own kext; 2) placing already compiled – same: mic does not respond. It was suggested in the above link to rename (as it is hard to remove) AppleHDA.kext and probably some other dependent kexts, but I think this is too much. I hardly suggest you to skip this and wait for a better build.

I'm currently working on the 0.2.2 version, I get the mic work on it.
Now I'm just finding the best default settings for our eeepc. For example now the volume is boosted so there's a better sound from speakers.
I will post the link to download my custom kext later.

This is the 0.2.2 modified version for my eeePC 1000H should work too on other eeePCs:

Install:
Install: You do have to delete appleazaliaaudio.kext and remove audiee from your login items for this to work. Then use Kext Helper to install the provided kext.
Reboot, and enjoy!

hi, i want to ask you if with this kext mic is working well…
i tried to install original version of voodoohda 0.2.2 and mic isn't working…
thank you…
is mic only mono?
Yes it is working well :) But only mono…
And there is a bit of noise :( (just like on the 0.2.1 version)
EDIT: This is just a modified version of the current 0.2.2 source code, to get the mic working for this version.

I have fixed my little issue, please download the new version:
The issue was: When you first want to mute the volume, and then get the sound back from the speakers it seems we need to play a bit with the volume so the sound will come back. But this happens only once after a boot ;)

Works a treat. I now have audio fully working on my eee pc 1000H, internal speaker, headphone and internal/external microphone.
I have just used Skype with headphones and internal microphone, with no issues.
This is fantastic, thanks to all of those who have put their efforts and time into fixing eee/osx sound issues :)
This is exciting news! I'm almost tempted to go buy another 1000H!
I think we all Eee PC, Eee Mac users we should test and feedback the VoodooHDA.kext modified by Thireus. So far I find no problem with his latest build and I recommend to all of you to try it. You can also check the VoodooHDA development and give your feedback in this thread. You will find the post of Thireus on the 5th page.
I have 2 questions so far: 1) Why the pop up list „ Settings for the selected device:“ is not showed up, even if greyed out? Thireus, can you bring it back? 2) I would recommend the rename of „Speaker“ and „Mic“ to something more apple friendlier. Some friendlier names:
Built-in Audio
Headphones
Internal Speakers
Line Out device
Line In device
Built-in Audio Speaker
Built-in Audio Microphone
Built-in Audio External Speakers
Built-in Audio External Microphone
I am not sure what may be appropriate, and even it is a pure cosmetic change, I would like to have friendlier device names in Sound Preferences. Here is the device name, as it it is recognised by vendor ID: „00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 02)“

Thanks Thireus, the port descriptions look much more logical. Also, it's great not to have to manually switch audio output to and fro.
Regarding the internal mic, whatever it records, it is neither mono, nor stereo. While there are two independet channels, to me (I am a sound recordist) it sounds very much like some wrong matrixing resulting in something that lacks depth as it is out of phase. I have never used the internal mic in windows, but I suppose its driver uses the two mics in the screen bezel to do some noise-cancellation or zoom-effect of some kind.
Is there any way of independly accesing one of the two mics in order to generate a proper (and much better sounding) mono signal?

Thireus, your newest version works great on the 1002HA. Thanks for the fix.
All good on the 1000H :)
I thought it was a better idea to create a new thread for voodoohda and the working kext:

Nothing new for the moment.
