Hello, new user here trying to get my eee 900a all sorted out….
This works great, but for some reason it will not switch between the headphone and internal speakers automatically when I insert headphones. I can switch manually, but that's getting old pretty fast. I have never installed any of the other audio fixes, just yours. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Great work so far!
Install:
Install: You do have to delete appleazaliaaudio.kext and remove audiee from your login items for this to work. Then use Kext Helper to install the provided kext.
Reboot, and enjoy!
Did you do this?

Those were never installed in the first place, I just straight up installed your fix. Should I install those, uninstall, then install this? Seems to be what everyone else has done…
Uninstall everything, and make a new install with my instructions.

ok, so maybe I am a little stupid. I deleted appleazaliaaudio.kext from /Extra/Extensions/ and re-installed your kext, but the problem is still there. I can switch manually between headphones and speakers, but no automatic switching. Your help has been great so far, I hope we can figure this out.
But how do you do to switch? There is no way to switch manually… so I'm wondering how you can do this XD
More explanation on how you do this would be appreciated.

System Prefs->Sound->Output
I can choose speaker or headphones. It doesn't matter if headphones are plugged in or not. If I highlight headphones, I get sound out of headphones, and vice versa for speakers. It doesn't matter if I plug in headphones or not, the option is always there. Hope this helps!
OK so you need to contact the dev team. It seems that your computer is not yet fully supported.
I can't do anything for that.

hello, very good work!!! now my HP HDX16 with IDT audo work with sleep ,but i have a problem i can't adjust the volume of the microphone and speaker. you have idea?
thanks
Nope :/ but you can adjust the microphone volume by editing the source if you want and build your own. But I have no idea why you can't adjust the volume :/

I tried it this morning, but I got a lot of errors.
You should contact the dev team for that: http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/

Guys you can try the last released version: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,139.0.html
I think it's much better, because there is now a pref pane to adjust some settings like mic etc.
But the sound input doesn't work :/

I confirm it is not working properly, even I did some records. What if you try to elaborate and port your modification to this package? I like the idea to have a separate pane for Advanced HDA settings. They should add this as a separate Tab, not Pane to Sound Preferences… And bring back the device naming: Speakers, Internal Microphone, External Microphone, etc.

In fact no, that's not lol. For audio it's ok, but for mic no. You always need to change your settings to get mic working and speakers settings do not keep after reboot.
So I'll use my own version.

I agree. Their 2.2 is not published as source yet if I understood you correctly: as R8 is the latest, but has no the pref source (you have used to do your modification). Anyway I think if they include the preferences pane code this may be useful for us Eee Mac users, and even for other like MSI users. I do use your latest moded kext and recommend to all to stay on it. BTW, I tried to localize their pane into my language and get an error: compiled nib. Thanks again for your wonderful work, Thireus!

I have a small problem with Thierus' audio kext. When i return from sleep, the volume is automatically set to the max, until I adjust the volume by one level. In other words, when I press the volume button, it returns to where it was. No big problem, but just thought I'd let you know. Also, about 1 out of every 10 boots boot without any audio, requiring a reboot. Otherwise, thanks again for the modified kext.
eeepc model?
OS X version?
Is this happening too with the original version?

Hi,
I have the same problem.
I have your latest version. I have a 1000H
Everything else works great.
I have a retail install 10.5.6 and now 10.5.7.
Ok I have noticed this little issue too :/
I'll try to see what I can do to fix it.

A new version is coming!
Today, I have found how to hack the last VoodooHDA, so I don't need the source to patch it.
The patched version will released this week, and will provide stereo working with microphones (Internal mic and Input audio), pref pane and some other stuffs.
So keep in touch (use the RSS feed :)) —> http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/

Just out of curiosity, why aren't these patches moving upstream into the main VoodooHDA? I'd think that long term it would be best for us to get our updates straight from the VoodooLabs team.
I don't know, the team do not provide all the sources (maily for the last releases); And it seems the project is kind of frozen :/
So maybe try to speak with the dev team…

When you say remove all Audio KEXT's do you mean the stock AppleHDA as well?
Thanks,
I forgot to say that this new version do not have microphone noise anymore :)

Thireus
To clarify things…
0.2.2_r8 -> Voodoo's Latest/last Source (compiled by you)
0.2.2_Thireus -> your latest patch
Am i right?
Thanks
Yep
The patched version has been created with the version with pref pane that the Voodoo team provide here: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,139.0.html
But because there is no source for this version I had to patch it.
And the r8 is a direct compilation of the latest available source with my modifications.
For eeepc users I recommend the compiled version. Have a look at the INSTALL file for more info.

http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/
Thanks Thireus.
Of the internal mic, I get the right channel only, and a lot of static with it. With an external stereo-mic, I get also get the same results. How did you achive a recording with less noise? (On my 1000h I have tried both extreme-versions of the zip's four)
How do you know that you only have the right channel working? Can you make screenshots, for example using Garageband, as I did?
Solutions - Hacks - Apps for your HackinTosh =)
http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/
it looks exactly like your audacity-screenshot on your website. I'll check with other recording sw later tonight. I'll also try to find if maybe an old pref-file from an other version of the same kext has anything to do with it.
Anyhow, how do you achieve your best results when recording from the internal mic?
Alright :)
So as you can see into the changelog I said:
Stereo with input mic works.
Stereo with internal mic works too, but the left side volume is low and seems to catch only ambient noise when I don't scream…
So it is working, but the volume is low! Don't forget to go into audacity pref and set stereo recording!!! Because by default it doesn't record stereo but mono (right channel)!
Solutions - Hacks - Apps for your HackinTosh =)
http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/
i checked the issue, using other software, and even running windows for comparison.
soundquality of the internal mic is generally disastrous, regardless of os. actually, running standart prefs, your patched driver gives far better results than the original driver under windows. however, noise is still plentifull.
there is one problem, though, which I have reported earlier: internal mic don't produce proper stereo. We'd be far better off if we only had one channel instead of two, and only used the right channel, not a mix of both to generate the mono signal.
I can't do anything for that right now, I'm not a voodoo developer.
This issue has already been reported here: http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/issues/detail?can=2&q=&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summary&sort=&id=20
And this is not due to my modified version but due to the orignal kext.
Maybe if someone find where both channel signals are located into the source the team provide on its site we could eventualy try to discuss on that point and try to patch it. It could be a nice work for you robbe23 :D what do you think about that?
Solutions - Hacks - Apps for your HackinTosh =)
http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/
Your patched version is a great improvement over the original voodoo kext, and certaily the issue is not due to your modifications. I wish it were easier to figure, though, and easily achived by active users like yourself.
For the moment the only workaround I have is to record with audacity, spilt the stereo file in seperate tracks, discard the left track and label the right track mono, all of which only takes three clicks in audacity. As for skype or ichat, quality is sufficent to be audible and understood.
I have a problem with installing this. Once I have downloaded this and unzipped using the OS archive utility the kext looks like a folder and can be opened in finder to show its contents. It is not recognised by OSX86 tools as a kext, Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks
Caber
You have 4 different folders. For 4 different versions. Open one folder for the version you need (refer to the "WHICH VERSION DO I NEED?" section into the INSTALL file to know which version to use), and install the provided kext as explained into the INSTALL file.
Solutions - Hacks - Apps for your HackinTosh =)
http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/
Errr, no. I waas meaning the kext in the folders. It appears as a folder with /contents / info plist. /MacOS/VoodooHDA /Resources/English.lproj/ InfoPlist.strings. Just like if you view package contents. Thinking about it I have used view package contents in finder and wonder if this has flipped a flag somewhere:( any ideas?
Caber:(
Very very strange…
Are you sure you are running OSX? LOL
No seriously, the only way to have a .kext working as a folder is to have it named without the .kext extension, or to right click on it and to see its content.
Do you have the same problem with other kext, for example those that are into this archive: http://www.enik.ch/PublicFiles/File/downloads/MY_BUNDLE_V0.9.4.1.zip
Or only with my kext?
And if you drag VoodooHDA.kext directly into the Kext Helper application… is it not working?
