Nothing special - install more memory (2GB) and run it from a fast drive (preferably a RunCore or equivalent SSD). With just these two items, Mac OS X on my Eee in routine tasks outperforms my MacBook Pro easily. Now, if you're doing something that's compute intensive (Photoshop) or graphics intensive (3D Games), well, the Atom and GMA graphics aren't going to keep up. However, most things are I/O bound (limited by the access time and speed of storage), so optimizing that should be your first priority.
