Already did my conversion to 10.5.8! :)
I've used the Combo package. I had no problem on installation. It has rebooted twice and showed me the 800 x 600 screen. On 2nd restart my keyboard was not recognized. So I had to manually add the ApplePS2Controller.kext via Windows. We have already used it before… I've also replaced the GMA kext with already patched for 10.5.7… Bluetooth is still a mystery… I believe it should work. Had to fix the CPU of course: About This Mac.pkg
And the Hardware profile does not work again. You know the fix. ;) SMBIOS things I did are working the same!
There are lot of changes: displays, safari, security… etc. Btw, sleep using Power button and other Fn combinations are working.
One strange thing I had: Sound Preferences refused me to load. I have a System almost localized in Bulgarian. The Sound pane is slightly modified, so I had to translate and rebuild in order to update my language for it, as Bulgarian is not supported officially.
EDIT: What are changed in System Profiler?
1. SPDisplayReporter.spreporter/Resources/locversion.plist
2. SPAudioReporter.spreporter/Resources/Localizables.strings
3. SPPlatformReporter.spreporter/Resources/Localizables.strings
So, we have to look at all 3 possibilities… Thireus, do you remember I have reported that the current VoodooHDA.kext has stopped to show in SP the 'Intel High Definition Audio'? Please, ping — we have to look at. :)
If possible I would be glad to test on 10.5.8 SPAudioReporter.spreporter files from 10.5.5, 10.5.6 to see if this is not the same problem we have with Hardware pane in SP… ie, the SPPlatformReporter.spreporter is suggested to be replaced. That's for sure.
SPDisplayReporter.spreporter is working great here. And you will find that Apple has improved the Displays Pane in SP.
