I found this thread in eeeuser forum and decided to try – and it works! I find the 1000HE keyboard a much better choice if you do a lot of typing with your 1000H. The keys have a more distinct feeling, looks nicer (like an Air or newer MacBook) so the EEE “feels” more mature. The major improvement and reason for my change is that the right shift key is larger and has in my view a better position. I hit the arrow up key instead of right shift key in about 30-40% during typing which is annoying in the long run. You need bios 1902 or later to have it properly recognized and it works great with Mac OS. I haven't found any problems yet (after one day of typing).
I had to cut two minor tabs at the lower end of the new keyboard (used a nail-clipper) and filed down what I missed with a small nibbler. I also cut off the four small tabs at each side of the new keyboard to get a snug fit. I'm using it now and it has a great feeling.
I bought my keyboard at Asusparts in Europe, just be sure that you get the right layout and model.
I'll see if I'll upload some pictures later on.
Enjoy!
