got a big problem with snow leopard, my load_cycle_count of my hdd is raising so fast.

Info:
Hrs hdd is used: 10
loadcyclecount: 7338

thats really bad! i tried clunkiller old and new , both didnt work. hdapm says that my hdd is not supported for apm, but i has apm settings (on linux i use hdparm -B 254 without any problem)

thats so bad i think im in love with snow leopard but if this cant be fixed i have to move to linux again …

you have to download a tool thats reading the SMART Info of your hdd! for example SMART Utility (Shareware) or any other tool which reads that info.

I know that these Problems are normal, but it seems that this hdd is a bit too fast with parking its heads… wrote to samsung, maybe thay can tell me whats normal and not.. hate this … windows is the only OS which hasnt these bugs with the notebook HDDs.. and why? i bet they pay lots a millions to make HDDs just working properly under windows… :((((

sadly but true, im installing ubuntu right now… cant run SL with this Problem…
after ONE DAY! my load cycle count went over 10k and 1% , therefore in 99days my hdd is shit? (bought it yesterday) no way!

in ubuntu i know how to controll the APM of the harddisk.

if there are updates on clunkiller or hdapm you're welcome to inform me here! (will still read the rss in future)
Snow Leopard was running so nice! its very sad!

my hdd is a samsung HM400JI

clunkiller new and old: nope

Edit: wow… the hdd itself is the problem. normally i use ubuntu and all my machines are running it… my old eee hdd is fully controllable with the hdparm -B 254 APM setting, like my new one, BUT the new one doesnt do what i am telling it. the load cycle count raises again… think i will change this hdd to another one. thats annoying…

My real Macbook hdd have this

Load Cycle count : 596175
hours of running : 7421

Clunkiller (new one) works really great for me under Snow on my EeeMac 1000H with original HDD.

wow … normally hdds have a limit of 600.000 xD how old is the macbook?

but as you can see, you got 1,3 load cycles within a minute.. i got 12! 10th time higher… so my lifetime of 100days(now) would be 1000days and fully normal.. think my hdd has a big error! will send it back now! just have to format this one very often i think… hate to give hdds back :(
will try it with a westerndigital… hopefully more succesfull (i got SL on my old hdd .. will test it. but the hdd will be dead soon… makes strange sounds :(

My Macbook is 3 years old, and it's my work computer, so it's ON all days or so.

Yes original EeePC 1000H make strange sounds sometimes (mine does), but it's alive.

so, i sent the samsung drive back… will now get a WD 500 black scorpio, hopefully this one will handle the load cycles more user- and hardware friendly

About cycles it's related to clunks (head parking).
