Have been out of action for a very long time.. Sorry guys things haven't been going too well for me (in real life).
Managed to install SL.10.6.2 (with a Hacked Kernel) on my 1000h ( dug it out of my cupboard. )
Been testing it for the past few days, and it is working great.
Just wondering if anyone is still on the 1000H or is there a better Asus Netbook to Hack on?
ACPI4ASUS.kext is not working on the 10.6, reading from the threads here, some of you managed to get it to work but it seem pretty buggy.
Instead of trying to hack it to work, I re-wrote a new Kext.
I will do a proper one if there is enough interest in it, if not I will just customize it to my own liking and call it a day.
Current state of the development (thanks to the holidays)
1. Change name to AsusHotKeys, so as not to be confused with Linux ACPI4ASUS Project (credit. I use ACPI4ASUS as a ref to learn)
2. I got a working version of the new AsusHotKeys.Kext, working with a modded DSDT.aml. (my last BIOS update was BIOS version 2102), only got all the hot-keys and Fn-keys work, cannot run external script yet.
3. Due to some depreciated code in SL, I have split the program into a Kext and a Daemon. (Kernel space and Userspace.), now the Kext Just send code and preform BIOS/ACPI function, Running script and and display etc, will be taken care by the Daemon..
4. Switch from shell script to apple script (deciding if there is a need to run both). Looking at what some guys here have developed with Apple script is amazing..
5. Current I have a working program to read hotkey's code and run scripts.
6. Moved setting from Kext plist to Preference plist.
Todo or will be doing.
1. a Prefpane for preference setting (anyone up to it?) I started 1 but have yet to link it.
2. convert bash scripts to AScript. (credit .. elParkeur, those are some amazing applescript, never tot you could do all that with AScripting.)
3. Aesthetics ..
Weekend is here so I will have sometime to work on it, but will have to be on a shoot on sunday, so this week's progress will be slow.
I will try to get a working release out sometime next week, it will be sort of a temp work around.
Please pm or reply here is anyone is interested.
Credits. All codes are contributed or inspired by many guys here and in other forum, thanks..
I am not a software engineer, I am a hack and I do this as a hobby only, so please keep you expectation low. haha..
Best… and Happy CNY..
