Problems waking from sleep in 10.6.3

Starting to wonder if I should have upgraded to 10.6.3. I'm now having some fairly strange problems when waking from sleep. After it wakes, I get one brief flash of the screen then it goes black and the trackpad no longer responds (but the buttons do!). Luckily I can hit the power button and "r" to restart, or alternatively VNC from another system.

I've tried this with both EvoRestart and VoodooPower. I've tried it with both the binpatched kernel and Chameleon 2.0rc4, and with the vanilla kernel and the NetBookInstaller Chameleon. I don't use any kernel extensions for clamshell sleep, but rather a DSDT patch. Everything worked fine on 10.6.2.

Any ideas?

hmm for me it works very well (and it seems that the process it takes to go to sleep is much faster than in 10.6.2)
got a working dsdt, proper sleepenabler.kext, but nothing else changed since 10.6.2 … will test a few .kexts now. maybe i can find something.

I'm having exactly the same problem with resuming from sleep. It doesn't work anymore.
Besides, my Energy Saver Preferences only shows one pane now. Before I had 2 panes (VoodooBattery?).
I'm really thinking about rolling-back… the good old working 10.6.2.

Could you please post yours: sleepenabler.kext + voodoobattery.kext + voodoopower.kext ? Thanks.

i got just one tab in the energy-saving-settings too.. but battery indicator works as well..
and 10.6.3 IS working for me (eeepc 1000H), so rolling back is not the solution rather then fixing the issues.

which version of appleintelintegratedframebuffer.kext are/were you using? seems that mine has not changed after update. got version 1.6.2 running. it's also strange why i dont got this problem?! are we using differet models of EEEs?

The one i got just now(10.6.2) which is running fine is: 1.6.6
The recent one (10.6.3) not working (ie with sleep wake up probs) is: 1.6.10

edit: I'm also using eeepc 1000h.

hmm do i have the older one because its named _AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext ? does this _ means that the kext isnt upgradable? because i have 1.6.2 and never updated through Apple-Updates as you said 1.6.6 is the kext of 10.6.2. could you give me 1.6.6?

edit: ah my brain isnt working very well xD my 1.6.2 kext is in Extra/Extensions and, chameleon overwrites that 1.6.10 (which is in my system located under system/lib…. and so on..). so this is why i dont got this problems. but i am interested in 1.6.6 kext and have a look at differences

Hi, mR_bLakA. Regarding "_AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext", the leading "_" doesn't mean anything. I actually use that with all non-stock kexts just so they sort above the others, but I didn't know anyone else did so.

CONFIRMED: Using the previous AppleIntegratedFramebuffer (v1.6.6, from 10.6.2) resolves both issues perfectly. Whew! I really didn't want to roll back to 10.6.2 - thanks for saving me, guys!

Hi again,

I've managed to get back the 'Battery' tab in Energy Saver Preferences.
The problem: the new AppleSMBIOS.kext has a newer version (1.5) than the one I have in /Extra/Extensions, so it is the one that was getting loaded.
This would prevent the previous AppleSBMIOS.kext + smbios.plist trick to work.

What I did: simply renamed the new AppleSMBIOS.kext to AppleSMBIOS.kext.back to prevent it from loading
and the Battery tab became visible again. So we're getting closer.
Surely this is not the most correct way to fix it! We should use the new AppleSMBIOMS.kext ( version 1.5)
and paste-in the necessary changes as done before. But I was a bit in a hurry to get it to work.

Heh, the irony. And here I am now, unable to get my smbios.plist and AppleSMBIOS.kext to play well together. Mind posting yours, even if it is based on version 1.4? If you get 1.5 working, all the better. :)

Thanks - I'll keep working on this, although I'm still not having any luck (all working now). A few months of peace and quiet on the hackintosh front have dulled my brain. I feel more than a bit dumb - all I had to do was increase the version number of my old AppleSMBIOS.kext to > 1.5, and all is well.

I don't touch anything in /S/L/E at all - completely self-contained in /E/E, although I have to include several Apple kexts to handle dependencies. Anything modified is prefixed by "_". One of the nice tricks I added recently is a LaunchDaemon that watches /Extra/Extensions, and if it changes it regenerates the mkext automatically. =D

Great, glad that you made it. Your 'clean SLE' strategy has this type of problem. You'll need to keep track of the versions.
Otherwise there's always the possibility that a newer version won't work in your system and needs to be patched or replaced. Besides, due to some kexts's dependencies you need to copy quite a few more 'new system modules' to the E/E. I prefer to copy to SLE the kexts that only work properly when rightly placed there, but of course that's your choice. Anyways, since you found a way to force the loading of the previous(v1.4) version, now it works.

Hint: As English is not my native language, maybe you could sum-up (in a separate post) the required changes for a 10.6.2-10.6.3 upgrade.

Yes, it's a trade-off, like most things. I summarized things over on InsanelyMac; I'm thinking about updating our moribund wiki one of these days soon; just haven't gotten to it yet.

Yes at last! I have been modding, patching and hex editing DSDT - Intergrated buffers etc.
This 1.6.6 Appleintegratedframebuffer worked like a charm!
The wake brightness fix is working on my EEEpc 1005HA_GG.
