Is anyone experiencing problems with video acceleration and QE/CI after 10.6.3 with the GMA950 kexts? The resolution is working fine, but the menu bar is no longer translucent and video acceleration is bad..even with just opening menus. I've tried all assortments of kexts for the gma950(27ae) and they all experience the same problem. If you have a fix or know what kexts are the issue please PM me.
I have some problem after all with my gma 950 on my 1000HE with external display:The old gma kext is unable to display over external monitor ,after modifying it screen sharing is not only functionning but causes kernel panic after the boot.
Anybody having the solution?
@blakken: Hi, It's been quite a longtime now, i wonder if you have already sorted the external VGA problem.
I had the same problem after the 10.6.3 upgrade. Here's how i've managed it:
1. Unplug your VGA monitor.
2. Run 'Detect Displays' (from the menu bar) and (re)plug the VGA monitor.
3. Check if the system is able to detect the external monitor. If it does, it should work normally (with QE/CI, etc) as before.
Give it a try. That's how i solved it. It's a bit cumbersome but it works, and i think i can live with it.
considering that my external resolution is so much larger 1920x1080, …
I'm using AppleIntelGMA.kext (from 10.6.3 ) and AppleIntegratedFramebuffer.kext (from 10.6.2). Both patched for '27AE' device.
Thanks TonCr for the help.
Yeah it's quite long to have an answer.
Unfortunately I did try this trick when I was under leopard unfortunately I did try several switch of Framebuffer and GMA kext that were given on some forums and supposed to work (Even with a supposed great new chameleon fork).Nothing seems to work.
Maybe it'd be nice from you to give me a link of your both kexts.Obviously ,as you said ,it isn't the greatest solution but far much better than getting nothing.
Here they are:

One more thing, after the external monitor is recognized, there's no need to repeat the unplug/plug trick.
It simply works. Hope you have the same luck.
Thanks for the help.I think I might change as well the chameleon version cause even with your both files the trick doesn't seem to operate. What's your chameleon version?
My system: EeePC1000H, BIOS2204 (vanilla), 2GB ram, running HackOsX10.6.3.
My DSDT: http://rapidshare.com/files/383378535/DSDT_BIOS2204_2G.aml.zip
The Chameleon: v2.0-rc4 r684.
My guess: try my DSDT if your system matches mine, else make sure your DSDT includes the GMA950 string injection fix.
TonyCr big thanks!!!
It was afterall the DSDT.Eventhough I patched it with several fixes and except for 10.6.3 vga out was always functionning.
Everything now seems to work perfect. My DSDT was weighting 25ko,yours is 33 ,what was the fixes you did to gain such amount?
I'm glad it has helped.
1.The vanilla DSDT size is 28671 bytes and the fixed-DSDT size is 28761 bytes (only 90 bytes larger!).
How did you weighed the size(s)?
2. About the DSDT fixes, it's quite a longish story. In case you're interested, have a look at a small utility I wrote to
extract and patch a DSDT mainly for EeePC's here: http://tonycr.wordpress.com/xp_dsdt
Yeah, that's my very first entry in the blog ;-).
md5 checked your DSDT was different than mine and ls -l showed that size was different.
Your technique is actually smart :getting the DSDT from windows. My DSDT was oldish (I patched it with DSDTSE) and most probably not compatible anymore with the 2204 bios.
I think you could include some other patches to include asus keys "recognition" for instance.
F*ing hell!!!!I finally managed to really got back my vga out working ,in the mean time compatible with deepsleep thus on **10.6.4.
Meklort release a mirroring program that works on terminal :mirroring off/on.Having the bad Kexts this program never worked for me until I got the good ones.
When connecting to VGA the best results I could ever got was some colored stripes over both screen ,beeing unable to see neither the icons, nor the text not even the mouse.Worst after disconnecting the main screen remained same and I had to force switch off button.
First download this bunch of kexts http://www.mediafire.com/file/iunzv1adjyz/VGA_Out_Working10.6.4.zip and install kexts it as usual to E/E
Be sure to have enabled GraphicsEnabler in boot.com.plist or EFI string (in my case I removed EFI string ,and I didn't test this option)
Inside the zip there is a program called mirroring ,put it wherever you want but remember the path.
Open terminal and be ready to enter the command "mirroring off "(without pressing enter!!)
Connect VGA,cross fingers. If both screens change state and getting stripes you can press enter
Mirracle!!!It works!!!
The only bad news is that the program fix the problem till restart.Wish someone would be able to make a daemon out of this program.
