Can I just take out the current mini PCI-E card in the asus eeePC 1000HA and put this in so that I don't need to go searching for kexts to make it work?

And if I did put this wireless card in my eeePC, would Windows recognize it or would I need special drivers from somewhere?

Hi,

I did just that and it works out of the box (I write this with the BCM Wireless connection…).
As for windows you need specific drivers. Google for it or send me a message if you can't find them.

I haven't been able to get any drivers working for the BCM4328 on Windows. I install the drivers and it gives me error code 39. The drivers I got were from http://www.wireless-driver.com
This is an explanation of what code 39 is:

Code 39
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Cause

There are several causes of Code 39 errors:
•    A required device driver is missing.
•    A required binary file is corrupted.
•    There is a problem with the file I/O process.
•    A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.

Any ideas?

I don't know yet, since I'm still waiting for mine in the mail. I actually got lucky and bought a lot of 5 cards. After testing them out, I'll put the 4 excess cards on eBay, post a link to the listing here, and offer a discount off my listed price to any buyers who come from ipis-osx and mention it.

It's actually sad though that I finally gave in to getting a true Airport card. I was planning to write a utility to control the Ralink and automate its on/off with sleep and reboot, and had already been hacking away at that until I started the audio effort.

I installed one of those Apple Airport card and it's working very well. I have all the functionality I expect and got rid of that anoying Wireless Setup Tool from Broadcom. And it's so easy to replace the wireless card, only four screws on our way!

I have a 1000H/ 160GB/ 1 GB ram ( now 2)
Used ideneb 10.5.5 update 1.3 I think ( latest) works like a charm with known sound and basic wireless issues.

Installed apple MB363Z/A WIRELESS CARD - PERFECT SWAP - NO ISSUES.
the previous card is no longer shipping / old.
got card from Apple - 5 minute install
The stock card does work - but you have to vary it on/off each time, it’s not a big deal but becomes annoying.

If you replace the card - and want to run XP as well you will need new drivers for this card.
Searching came up with this and have installed - work fine

It's a pity that the standard EeePC card can't be gotten to work natively with Airport, as it is quite a nice card [draft.n..]. I guess if I end up having OS X as my main operating system I'll have to buy one of the proper Apple cards though.

Hi, I am a bit late it seems in the adventure of hte EEEPCMac. I cannot get airport to work but the above card does not seem to be available anymore. Is there an alternative?

I put 10.5.6 on my EEEPC 1000HG and everything (well those things I need and can verify) works but the system is telling me there is not airport card available in the system. It worked fine with the original XP software so it is there. Would be great if anyone could help.

Hi

This card is what I now use in my 1000H.

Worked out of the box for me. The only issue is if you buy 2nd hand Wifi cards from Asia is that they might be configured for Japan which uses slight different frequencies and has I think 14 channels instead of 12. I had some issues with channel 6 with my card, but I changed to ch 11 in my router which works good. Can be a problem if are in a public Wifi area which uses only ch 6.

Regarding drivers for XP I don't know but it should be…

I've had, so far, ;-) only good experience with sellers from HK.
